Hey y’all, I’m Mary Elizabeth — the artist and surface pattern designer behind It’s Mary Elizabeth Designs!
I create hand-drawn, joy-filled patterns and illustrations from my cozy studio in North Carolina — designed to bring warmth, color, and creativity to everyday life.
I’ve always been drawn to the little details that make life feel cozy and beautiful — a teacup’s floral rim, a patterned blanket, a handwritten label on a jar. Through It’s Mary Elizabeth Designs, I turn those small moments into artwork that tells a story.
My designs blend charm, color, and emotion to bring products to life — from fabrics and stationery to apparel and home goods. Each collection begins with hand-drawn sketches and thoughtful color palettes that invite joy and connection.
I love collaborating with small businesses, DIY makers, and creative brands who share my love for heartfelt design. Whether you’re here to license a pattern collection, collaborate on a product line, or simply browse my art-filled world — I’m so glad you’re here.
How I Got Started
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to draw. My parents always encouraged me to follow my creative passions — cheering me on through every sketchbook, art fair, and late-night project. They even supported my dream of attending art school, where I earned my degree in Graphic Design.
After losing both of my parents, my motivation to succeed as an artist became even more personal. There’s nothing I want more than to make them proud by continuing down the path they always believed in for me.
In 2021, I launched my first business as a graphic designer, working with clients on logos, branding and even social media management. Over time, I felt a pull toward something more creative and fulfilling — surface pattern design.
Now, I create collections that bring my art to life on real products — from fabric and stationery to apparel and home goods. There’s something so special about seeing my artwork out in the world, knowing it can bring joy to someone’s everyday life. It’s more than a business to me — it’s a way to honor where I came from, and the people who believed in my creativity from the very beginning.
